Board Chair since 2019

A member of the 5th generation of the Murphy family, Alex serves as Chair of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Murphy Companies. Under Alex’s leadership as Board Chair, the Murphy Companies have experienced a transformational era of growth, governance, and professionalism. Alex has overseen the companies’ successful transition from being “family-run” to being “family-owned, professionally managed,” built the companies’ first ever independent Board of Directors, and worked with the Murphy Family Council to develop family governance structures and policies that have created alignment between the family, company, and the Board. Alex is a graduate of Barnard College and Princeton University.

Paddy currently serves as the Chairman of Meritex, a 4th generation, family-owned industrial real estate investment and management company headquartered in the Twin Cities. Previously, Paddy led the Meritex Company as the CEO for over twenty years. Before joining Meritex, he was Vice President of Commercial Banking at National City Bank of Minneapolis. Paddy has extensive independent board experience and is presently a member of the board of the Warners’ Stellian Company and is Chair of the Board of the Family Business Center at the University of St. Thomas.

A member of the fifth generation of the Murphy family, Gordy is a research analyst on the Emerging Markets Fixed Income team at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Gordy has held previous positions at Columbia as a Senior Portfolio Analyst on multi-sector fixed income team. Gordy is a graduate of University of St. Thomas. He is also a member of the CFA society of Minnesota and holds a CFA designation.

With over 40 years of experience in the banking industry, Pat most recently served as the President and CEO of Bremer Financial Corporation from 2009-2016. Before joining Bremer, Pat was the President and COO of Wells Fargo where he oversaw the company’s Minnesota, Indiana, and Ohio regions. In addition to the Murphy Companies, Pat has served on the following corporate boards: Alpha Cellulose Corporation, Bremer Financial Corporation, Walk America Inc., Health East Corporation, Aero Engineering Systems, Inc, and West Bank Corporation (West Des Moines, IA). Pat is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.

Member since 2022

Mark has extensive experience in third-party logistics and industrial real estate. For over 20 years, Mark worked in numerous roles at the Jacobson Companies, including as President, supporting the Des Moines, IA based 3-PL company grow nationwide. More recently, Mark retired from his role as Senior Vice President of the Graham Group, a Des-Moines-based commercial real estate company. Mark is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas.
