What do our certifications mean for you?

When a 3PL says that it has programs and procedures in place to ensure safety and quality management, what does that really mean for your business? Industry and safety certifications mean that outside third party organizations review and measure a company’s ability to keep products, people and the environment safe. At Murphy, we actively participate in several certification programs because we believe they are important to our clients.

We invite you to view our full list of certifications which we’ll briefly explain in this week’s post, and please contact us if you have further questions about them.

Quality Management

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ensures that Murphy’s planning; operations and tracking are running at peak performance for each of our clients. We keep all of our facilities up to date with ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for our extensive green initiatives.

Food Safety

Murphy’s newest Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification is one of the most comprehensive in the industry; we have received a level two rating to go along with our years of ASI food safety certification. Combining the two certifications helps us to catch any hazards that may occur with food safety. We are also FDA/USDA certified and follow HACCP procedures to ensure that hazardous and critical control points are maintained with the best standards in the industry. As a result, Murphy consistently experience clean and safe warehouses for their products (One client visited us a while back and reported to his colleague over the phone, “You could eat off the floor in this warehouse; I am extremely impressed.”) We take pride in maintaining a clean and safe warehouse, and our food safety certifications prove it.

Warehouse Safety

An OSHA SHARP certification is a great indicator that safety is a top priority for your provider. The Minnesota Department of Labor recognizes Murphy as a MNSHARP certified facility. This certification is given to companies that exceed federal OSHA safety standards. Through comprehensive procedure and practice audits, OSHA has deemed that we keep our employees and the products in our warehouses safe.

Green Certifications

In addition to ISO 14001, Murphy holds LEED® and ENERGY STAR® certifications. Our many sustainable initiatives are backed by procedural and tracking audits to ensure we are a truly sustainable company. We are proud to be named a sustainable company through our many green awards, but the certifications show our true numbers. Each year we compile an Annual Corporate Sustainability Report, certified by the Global Reporting Initiative.
